Altaneve assures modern connoisseurs continue to enjoy this timeless, crisp, elegantly sparkling wine.

Altaneve comes from a family steeped in Italian tradition: growing oranges, olives, and grapes. In fact, the Noto Family boasts over 10 generations of winemakers giving Altaneve the firm agronomic foundation on which it rests.

Originating in the region of Calabria, the Noto Family tradition of winemaking had been primarily centered around red wines until the early 1900s. The move to northern Italy (Valdobbiadene) and the pursuit of fine Prosecco occurred more recently by Altaneve’s founder.

The town of Valdobbiadene – renown for producing some of the highest quality sparkling wines in the world – is located in the foothills of the Italian Alps. Valdobbiadene has produced glera grapes for millennia. Due to its steep terrain, the grape clusters must be hand-picked and hand-selected, one-by-one.

The orientation of each hillside to the sun dictates when various sections of the vineyard are harvested to capture the grapes at their peak ripeness. Truly a labor of love, this harvesting method results in the freshest grapes possible requiring the least amount of preservatives (sulfites) during the winemaking process.

It is here, in Valdobbiadene, that David Noto, the owner and esteemed polymath behind Altaneve, joined forces with the area’s best winemaker and agronomist and, together, began producing wines from the oldest vines on the best hills resulting in the exclusive and unusually sophisticated products he makes today.

Renowned Prosecco oenologists monitor the entire Altaneve winemaking process to guarantee consistent taste and composition. The wine’s bouquet and persistent perlage are developed by an extended secondary fermentation, not widely employed by wine producers. The result is a wine with a unique, floral aroma and an elegant delicateness.

Valdobbiadene’s unique terroir differentiates Altaneve from other Proseccos and, consequently, Altaneve has been designated a Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G. that is composed of 100% glera grapes that are grown exclusively on the steep hillsides in this special region.
